Two Ways to Catalyze Workplace Change

Once you determine what your values are and what values you’re looking to integrate into your organization, how do you actually produce change?

There are two main ways:

1. Instantaneous change

This occurs when you’re dealing with a toxic culture that’s hurting people. The same way that you’d change your diet if your doctor said it was killing you, this involves a fast, dramatic change in the way you operate.

2. Gradual change

This is a process where you decide as a company you want to make a pivot, but it’s not one that requires dramatic executive action. Instead, you make change in small increments. It’s similar to how, in order to get fit, you start by working out 15 minutes a day and then increasing over time.

It’s imperative to recognize the type of change you seek to make in your culture. Then take the necessary action to get there.
